We do NOT recommend using GPS units when traveling to our location due to the myriad back-roads and spotty cell-phone/GPS coverage that comes along with our very rural location. 

Please follow the written directions below to arrive at Black Chasm quickly and safely. 

DIRECTIONS

--- From Sacramento Metro Area---

Take Highway 16 (Jackson Rd) East towards Jackson, turn right on Highway 49 through Drytown, Sutter Creek, LEFT at Ridge Rd and 49. Follow Ridge Rd until it ends in  Pine Grove and turn LEFT on 88 in Pine Grove. After a little more than 1 mile turn  LEFT on PineGrove -Volcano rd. Straight for 3 miles and a SHARP RIGHT onto Pioneer-Volcano rd. Black Chasm will be on your right side after less than ½ mile. 

----From Stockton Metro Area ---

Take Highway 88 East from Stockton through Waterloo, Clements and Lockeford. Turn LEFT at the highway  12/ 88 intersection toward Jackson and follow 88 through Jackson. Turn LEFT at the 88/49 intersection in Downtown Jackson towards Lake Tahoe. Follow 88 for 8 miles into the town of Pine Grove and turn Left at Pine Grove -Volcano Rd.  Go straight on Pine Grove- Volcano Rd for 3 miles and then a SHARP RIGHT onto Pioneer-Volcano Rd. Black Chasm is located on the right after less than ½ mile. 

----From Tahoe--- 

( this route may be closed in winter due to snow, Highway 50 is another viable option, from Placerville on Highway 50 follow the directions for Points North)

Take Highway 89 West over Luther Pass and turn Right onto Highway 88 at Pickett's Junction. Follow 88 over Carson Pass into the town of Pioneer  (about 80  miles). Turn right onto Pioneer-Volcano rd  and follow this rd 3 miles towards the town of Volcano. Black Chasm will be on your left side about 1 mile before the town of Volcano. 

   ---From Points south---

Take highway 49 North until you reach the Highway 88/49 intersection in downtown Jackson. Turn right towards Lake Tahoe on 88 and follow this rd for 8 miles into the town of Pine Grove. Turn left onto Pine Grove-Volcano rd and follow this for 3 miles. Take a SHARP RIGHT onto Pioneer-Volcano Rd. Black Chasm is located less than ½ mile down the road on your right. 

-----From Points North -----

Take Highway 49 South towards Jackson, turn left onto Ridge Rd in Sutter Creek and follow this road until it ends in Pine Grove. Turn left onto Highway 88 towards Lake Tahoe and then Left onto Pine Grove-Volcano Rd. After 3 miles take a SHARP RIGHT onto Pioneer-Volcano Rd. Black Chasm will be on your right after less than ½ mile.
